Mountain Cats spoil final home tilts for Senators

Kyle Morrow had a big day at the plate to spoil the final home games of the season for Davis &?Elkins Wednesday in West Virginia Conference action at Harpertown Fields.

Morrow had a two-run homer in the lidlifter to lead the Mountain Cats to a 5-2 victory. He was 3-for-4 at the plate.

Brett Marabito, Zach Vignero and Jake Warner added two hits each for the winners.

Junior left-hander Michael Paratore took the loss for the Senators, allowing five runs in three innings.

Tygarts Valley High School product Christian Scott pitched four scoreless innings in relief.

Matt Barr and Matt Moceri had two hits each to lead D&E at the plate.

Nate Pope earned the win in a complete-game effort. He gave up just six hits, struck out seven and walked just one.

Sam Barbera went 4-for-4 and Morrow drove in two runs to spark Pitt-Johnstown to a 6-3 victory in the nightcap.

Marabito added three hits and Matt McGee a pair of hits an RBI for the Mountain Cats.

Marcus Warner was tagged with the loss for the Senators. He allowed four runs in 3 1/3 innings. Daulton Weagley, Tripp Staley and Jake Smith all saw time in relief.

Elkins native Lance VanNoy collected two hits, while Travis Phelps drove in two runs for D&E at the plate.

Derek Younker earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits over six innings. He fanned six. Ryan Socol pitched a perfect seventh inning to record the save.

Pitt-Johnstown improved to 21-16 overall and 12-13 in the WVIAC Northern Division with the two wins.

D&E drops to 20-17 overall and 14-12 in the WVIAC. The Senators will travel to Glenville State at 1 p.m. Saturday for a doubleheader with the Pioneers.
