Tygarts Valley sweeps Tucker County in PVC action

PARSONS - The Tygarts Valley High School softball team swept a pair of games from Tucker County Wednesday in Potomac Valley Conference acton.

The Bulldogs (5-6) won the first game 16-2 in three innings and took the second game 24-6 in four innings.

Charity Lower, Alexis Vandevender and Morgan Stout had two hits each for Tygarts Valley.

Shaunna Taylor picked up the win for the Bulldogs in three innings of work.

Bekah Simmons took the loss for the Mountain Lions in three innings on the hill.

Simmons and Sharee Thomas had hits for Tucker County.

Lower notched the win in the nightcap in four innings of work.

Lower had five hits and two RBIs for TV, while Danielle Johnson had four hits and five RBIs.

Vandevender, Pritt and Makayla Harris had three hits each for TVHS.

Simmons took the loss for the Mountain Lions.

Simmons had three hits, while Mariah Bowley added two hits for Tucker County.

Tygarts Valley will travel to Moorefield Monday for a Potomac valley Conference tilt.

Tucker County will visit Pocahontas County on Friday for a conference tilt.

Robert C. Byrd 11, Elkins 1

CLARKSBURG - Alicia Noble and Mecca Henderson had two hits each to lead Robert C. Byrd past Elkins 11-1 Wednesday in Big 10 Conference action.

Henderson notched the win for Eagles in four innings of work. She gave up one run on eight hits, walked one and struck out four.

Michaela Lewis-Lambert took the loss for the Tigers (5-10) in four innings of work, striking out four.

Hailey Collins had two hits and an RBI, while Amy Fincham and Lewis-Lambert had two hits apiece for the Tigers.

Elkins will host Bridgeport at 5 p.m. today for a Big 10 Conference contest.

University 10, B-U 6

MORGANTOWN - Kelby Hall drove in four runs to power University past Buckhannon-Upshur 10-6 on Wednesday.

The Bucs were plagued by six errors in the contest.

Brooklyn Waddell, Claire Linger and Sarah Ling each had two hits for B-U. Linger also drove in a pair of runs.

Megan Williams took the loss, allowing 10 runs on six hits in six innings. She struck out three and walked two.

Sarah Riddle earned the win.

B-U will travel to Grafton at 4:30 p.m. today.
