HAMBLETON - A strong junior class will be asked to carry the load for Tucker County this season.

The Lady Mountain Lions, who were eliminated in the sectionals last spring, will look to key holdovers Shannon Whitehair and Bekah Simmons to lead the squad.

Both players were Class A all-state honorable mention picks last season as sophomores.

Whitehair is an infielder and catcher, while Simmons plays in the infield and pitches.

Other projected returning players include pitcher/infielder Caroline Adams, outfielder Kayla Palmer, outfielder-pitcher Reba Bates, infielder-outfielder Cheyenne Surguy, infielder Mariah Bowley, catcher-infielder Sharee Thomas, infielder-outfielder Abby Nestor, and outfielders Kristy Heckler and Alayna Wesoloski.

The Lady Mountain Lions will open the season March 22 at Potomac Valley Conference rival Tygarts Valley.
