Tickets are still available for the May performance of last season's "American Idol" winner.

Phillip Phillips will take the stage at 7 p.m. May 14 at Harper-McNeely Auditorium on the campus of Davis & Elkins College. The event is a benefit for the Elkins-Randolph County YMCA.

"This is a fantastic event for our community, and we are grateful for the sponsors who are making this possible," said Sid Gillispie, executive director of the YMCA. "We appreciate the many ways our community comes together and the relationships that can bring a top-name performer like this to the college."

Philip Philips will take the stage at 7 p.m. on May 14 at Harper-McNeely Auditorium to benefit the Elkins-Randolph County YMCA.

Phillips recently released his single "Home," which has garnered the attention of many fans. More than 278,000 downloads have been sold, according to Phillips' website. The site said "Home" marked the highest debut ever on the Billboard Digital songs chart, and a YMCA press release said the single has reached quadruple platinum status.

The song was used as the soundtrack for the 2012 U.S. Olympics Women's Gymnastics team and as the unofficial theme for Hurricane Sandy relief, according to the release.

The benefit concert is sponsored by Elkins Fordland, Allegheny Insurance and Yuengling Brewing. YMCA officials plan to use the proceeds for improving the Y's sprinkler system, fire alarms and swimming pool renovations.

Scott Goddard, vice president for student affairs at D&E College, said he truly values the "town and gown relationship" i.e. the bond between the college and the Elkins community.

"The show with Phillip Phillips is a reflection of this relationship," Goddard said. "It is truly a pleasure to be working with the YMCA to bring this special event to the area. Over the years, Elkins has had the opportunity to see a number of 'American Idol' contestants/winners on campus."

Goddard urged fans in the area not to miss the chance to see Phillips.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at the YMCA, Elkins Fordland or online at www.dne.musictoday.com.
