Riley’s RBI single carries Minutemaids to win

GRAFTON - Tori Riley's RBI single in the top of the 11th inning helped lead Lewis County past Grafton 3-2 Tuesday in Big 10 Conference action.

Riley finished the day with two hits and three RBIs for the Minutemaids. Cheyiannea Watson added two hits and scored two runs, while Shelby Murphy added two hits.

Riley picked up the win on the mound.

Samantha Shingleton, Teala Holmberg and Sierra Klepfel all had two hits for Grafton.

Erin Wambaugh was the losing pitcher.

Lewis County will entertain North Marion at 4:30 p.m. today for another league game.

Moorefield sweeps Tygarts Valley

MOOREFIELD - Moorefield claimed a Potomac Valley Conference sweep over Tygarts Valley on Tuesday.

The Yellow Jackets took the first game 10-0 and claimed the nightcap, 13-0.

Alisha?Redmon earned the win in the opener, allowing two hits and striking out five.

Ashley Rexrode went 2-for-2 with a triple to lead Moorefield.

Shaunna Taylor took the loss for the Bulldogs, allowing seven hits, striking out one and walking one.

Alexis Vandevener and Morgan Stout had the lone hits for Tygarts Valley.

Taylor Zuber tossed a two-hitter to lead the Yellow Jackets in the nightcap.

Beth Cook had two homers and four RBIs to lead Moorefield at the plate. Katelynn Wills added two hits and three RBIs and Michaela Regester a pair of RBIs.

Charity Lower was the losing pitcher, giving up 13 runs on eight hits.

Paige Pritt and Vandevener had the hits for the Bulldogs.

Tygarts Valley will travel to Philip Barbour at 5:30 p.m. today, while Moorefield will host East Hardy at 7 p.m. for a PVC tilt.

East Hardy 11, Pendleton County 0

FRANKLIN - Jodie Funkhouser twirled a five-inning shutout to lead East Hardy past Pendleton County 11-0 Tuesday in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Funkhouser gave up three hits, walked two and struck out six for the Cougars (13-6).

Autumn Mathias had three hits and drove in two runs, while Morgan Mongold and Rayann Foltz had two hits each for East Hardy.

Brittany Hoffman took the loss for the Wildcats in five innings of work.

Hoffman, Nicole Hedrick and Hillary Ord all had hits for Pendleton County.

East Hardy (13-6) will host Moorefield at 7 p.m. today for a key league contest, while Pendleton County will travel to Petersburg at 5 p.m.
