The Community Connect Foundation of Charleston, in partnership with the West Virginia Library Commission and the West Virginia Association of Counties, will host a series of job development seminars at the Upshur County Public Library Monday and Tuesday.

These seminars are free and are open to the public.

In November 2012, the Community Connect Foundation, in partnership with the WVLC and the WVAC, was awarded a grant from the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey to purchase e-books for the WV-READS Library eBook Consortia, and to conduct a series of job and career development seminars and library membership drives in public libraries in Cabell, Harrison, Mercer, Greenbrier, Jackson, Mason, Marshall, Wood, Raleigh, Ritchie and Upshur counties.

As part of this grant, the Community Connect Foundation has scheduled the following seminars at the Upshur County Library, on Tennerton Road in Buckhannon:

This is a one-hour course on how to develop, format and draft a professional resume. In addition to presenting this information, volunteers will be on hand to review resumes and cover letters of attendees and offer suggestions for improvement. Attendees should bring a copy of their resume and cover letters.

This is a one-hour course on how to prepare for and successfully sell yourself in a job interview. In addition to presenting this information, volunteers will be on hand to answer specific questions as well as practice the skills covered in the course.

Internet Use: (11 a.m. to noon Tuesday)

This is a one-hour course on the basics of Internet use as well how to access online resources available through the West Virignia Learning Express Library Portal. In addition to presenting this information, volunteers will be on hand to provide specific direction to attendees who want to practice the skills covered in the course on library computers.
