Buckhannon-Upshur picked up some momentum heading into next week's sectional tournament play with a 9-1 win over Elkins Thursday in Big 10 Conference action at Elkins Middle School.

The Bucs improved to 14-11 on the season, while the Tigers dropped to 6-13.
Megan Williams earned the win for B-U, working all five innings. She allowed one run on three hits, walked one and struck out two.
Michaela Lewis-Lambert was tagged with the loss, surrendering nine runs on 12 hits, fanning two and walking one.
Brooklyn Waddell led the Bucs at the dish, collecting three hits and scoring three runs. Claire Linger also had three hits, while Williams, Casey Frederick and Shadie Studer added two safeties each.
"We took advantage of their mistakes," B-U coach Tom Hasbrouck said. "I thought Megan pitched well, especially late in the game."
Katy Reed accounted for the lone run for Elkins as her sacrifice fly plated Abby Fincham.
Kelsi Trippett, Amy Fincham and Lewis-Lambert had the hits for the Tigers, who honored their seniors before the game.
Both teams will be in action today as Elkins hosts sectional rival Hampshire at 3 p.m. for a doubleheader and the Bucs will entertain Preston at 4:30 p.m. for a twin-bill.
East Hardy 10, Martinsburg 0
BAKER - Jodie Funkhouser pitched four scoreless innings to lead East Hardy past Martinsburg 10-0 Thursday in non-conference action.
Funkhouser gave up just one hit, walked one and struck out eight for the Cougars (14-7).
Casey Showman had two hits and an RBI for East Hardy. Jade Foltz and Sarah Liller added RBIs.
Destiney Filey took the loss for the Bulldogs in four innings of work.
She gave up five earned runs on eight hits, walked two and struck out two.
Sabrina Fox had the lone safety for visiting Martinsburg.
East Hardy will visit Washington at 5 p.m. today for a doubleheader.
Elkins 11, B-U 7
TENNERTON - Haley Collett had four hits to lead Elkins past Buckhannon-Upshur 11-7 Thursday in middle school action.
Collett also had two triples for the Hornets (10-2).
Susan Riggleman, Michella Young, Bailey Young and Abby Collett had two hits. Sierra Poling added a triple.
Korri Evans picked up the win for Elkins.
McKinley Gaudet took the loss for the Bucs, while Cassie Avery and Hannah McClung had two hits each for B-U.
Elkins will host East Fairmont at 7 p.m. today.
