The Region VI Workforce Investment Board and Region VI Workforce Partner Network, in collaboration with the Lewis County Economic Development Authority, are sponsoring the fifth annual North Central West Virginia Jobs Expo featuring regional oil and gas companies.
The expo will be May 1 at the Jackson's Mill State 4-H Camp Assembly Hall. Vendors will be on site from 2 to 7 p.m. to provide job seekers with information regarding employment and training opportunities in the North Central West Virginia area.
The oil and gas industry provides many outstanding opportunities for those individuals who meet the varying job needs of the employers. Many of the employers have noted they will be doing on-site interviews if job seekers match the needed job requirements.
Some of the positions employers will seek applicants for are: skilled and unskilled laborers; haz-mat, water truck, roll-off and other CDL drivers; heavy equipment and crane operators; mechanics; project managers; engineers; operations technicians; foremen; office assistants; administrative positions; and many others.
New this year to the event will be employers from various fields that are greatly affected by the oil and gas industry. Employment opportunities will be available in a large number of health care fields, general laborers, carpenters and the technology field.
Companies that will attend the event are: Eagle One Oilfield Transportation, J&R Builders, Key Energy Services, Lightning Trucking, Rush Well Site, Shaft Drillers, Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Shentel, US Well Services, Waste Management, Weatherford International and Williams.
Training providers will be available to offer information about training programs that are relevant not only to the oil and gas industry but also to other career opportunities that may allow the job seeker to pursue a new and exciting career. Training providers include: Fred Eberle Technical Center, Glenville State College, PIA Jumpstart, Pierpont Community & Technical College and Robert C. Byrd Institute.
