Tina Shaffer

Tina Marie Byrd Shaffer, 49, a resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Montefiore Hospital.

She was born May 7, 1963, at Elkins, a daughter of Loretta Triplett Byrd of Elkins and the late Richard Lee Byrd.

On July 12, 1980 she was married to Michael Allen Shaffer Sr., who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Michael Allen Shaffer Jr. of Elkins; one daughter, Nicole Shaffer Woods of Elkins; three brothers, Richard and Mark Byrd, both of Elkins and Joshua Byrd of Morgantown; five sisters, Jane Gibson of Windham, Ohio, Anita Kelly and Bernice Becker, both of Montrose, Karen Channel of Elkins and Kim Wymer of Junior; and four grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were her grandparents, James and Mona Triplett and William and Hattie Byrd.

Tina had worked as a lab assistant at Davis Memorial Hospital prior to becoming disabled and attended Elkins Church of God and Family Worship Center.

Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. today at Elkins Church of God and Family Worship Center in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, from the church with the Rev. Eli Hostetler and Pastor Jamie Estep officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
