Arts Center plans Benefit Bridge Luncheon

May 1, 2013
The Inter-Mountain

The Randolph County Community Arts Center will sponsor a special May Day Benefit Bridge Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the RCCAC Great Hall. The event is a unique fundraiser for the center's art education and school outreach programs.

This special bridge event is open to all players, said Betty Hardman, one of the event's planning committee members. She encouraged anyone interested in coming out to play bridge and have a good time.

"Meet new people and enjoy a day of fellowship and card playing while benefiting the Art Center's educational programs," Hardman said.

The lunch buffet - prepared by the Arts Center's talented volunteer chefs - will begin at 11:30 a.m. with bridge time being from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 each or $60 for a foursome. The event is open to all bridge players, both male and female.

For more information or reservations, anyone interested can call the Arts Center at 304-637-2355.

On average, the RCCAC offers more than 130 classes, workshops and camps a year, ranging from cooking to pottery, with nearly 700 students participating. During this past year, performers with the Arts Center's concert series presented 17 concerts and workshops. Last year, the outreach program provided concerts and workshops for more than 3,000 school students.

The RCCAC, a nonprofit organization promoting and supporting the arts in Randolph County and the surrounding areas, is located at the corner of Randolph Avenue and Park Street in Elkins. RCCAC educational programs are supported by Parrack Insurance, the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, the West Virginia Commission on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts and the West Virginia Department of Education.
