Hodgesville students enjoy traditional tea

May 15, 2013
The Inter-Mountain

The first-grade class at Hodgesville Elementary features a children's author each month from December through May.

Recently, their featured author was Beatrix Potter. She was a British children's author about 100 years ago, and some of her most familiar stories are Peter Rabbit and Tom Kitten.

After the students read all of her books, they had a tea party. This exposed them to some British culture from that time in history. They were able to learn about proper etiquette.

Mrs. Walker, Marissa, Haylea and Cory take part in a tea party for first-graders and their mothers at Hodgesville Elementary School.

They also were able to dress up and experience a time in history when you couldn't call someone, but instead you went to visit them and enjoyed tea and conversation. Some of the students' mothers attended and helped serve as hostesses at the tea party.
