Area resident graduates from college in Pa.

Matthew A. Manspeaker of Buckhannon, son of Richard and Charity Manspeaker, was one of more than 300 students who graduated from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa., during the spring commencement ceremony May 11.

He received a Bachelor of Science in computing and information science with magna cum laude honors. Manspeaker was a member of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, Alpha Lambda Delta, Knights of Columbus and the dean's list.

Cardinal Donald Wuerl, archbishop of Washington, who is involved nationally and internationally in education, health care and social organizations, was the principal speaker and recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Theology Degree.

James E. Rohr, executive chairman and former chief executive officer of the PNC Financial Services Group, also was honored with the presentation of an honorary doctor of humane letters degree.

Manspeaker was a 2009 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School and is a member of the Holy Rosary Parish. He is employed at Iron Bridge Integration in Pittsburgh as a software engineer.
