Trumpeteer auditions set for Forest Festival

Auditions for the royal trumpeteers of the 77th Mountain State Forest Festival will be conducted at 7 p.m. June 4 at Elkins First United Methodist Church.

Any Randolph County student in ninth through 12th grade for the fall term is eligible to audition.

Each student auditioning will be required to play a prepared fanfare and sight-read a fanfare. Music and audition rules can be obtained from band directors at Elkins High School, Elkins Middle School, Tygarts Valley Middle/High School, Harman High School and the Forest Festival office at 101 Lough St., Elkins.

Upon completion of the auditions, up to four trumpeteers will be chosen and notified. The Mountain State Forest Festival royal trumpeteers are included in various festival activities including the tours of Randolph County schools, coronation of Queen Silvia and the Queen's Ball.

The 77th Mountain State Forest Festival will be celebrated Sept. 28 through Oct. 6.
