MCHENRY, Md. - Elkins Post 29 improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 7-4 win over Grantsville (Md.) on Tuesday night.
Post 29 trailed 4-3 before tying the game in the sixth on an RBI single from Doug Smith.
Elkins then plated three runs in the eighth to build a three-run edge.
A suicide-squeeze from Issac Riggleman scored the first run, while Chance Price added a two-run single.
Post 214 took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a fielder's choice RBI from Logan Stewart.
Elkins answered with two runs in the third when Price drove in a run with a single and Kevin McDermott raced home on a wild pitch.
Grantsville tied the game in the bottom of the frame before taking the lead an inning later with a pair of runs.
Brandon Hamons earned the win in seven innings of action. The Pocahontas County High School product allowed four runs on 10 hits, struck out three and walked three.
Riggleman got the save, surrendering just one hit and fanning two in two innings.
Jared Fike was the losing pitcher, giving up seven runs on 10 hits in 7 2/3 innings. He struck out three and walked two.
Brennan Dettinger went 3 for 5 at the dish to lead the winners, while Smith and Price both finished with a pair of hits.
Mason Dick had three hits and an RBI for Post 214.
Elkins will travel to Hawley Field at 7 p.m. Thursday to face Morgantown.
