Nothing found in drug sweep at TVHS

An unannounced drug sweep at Tygarts Valley High School Wednesday morning found nothing illegal, officials said.

TVHS Principal Steve Wamsley said in a phone interview Wednesday that police and a K-9 unit showed up to perform the drug sweep unannounced, which is the agreed-upon procedure.

Wamsley said no drugs were found in the school. The dog "hit" on a truck in the parking lot, but nothing illegal was found in the vehicle, he said.

Chief R.H. White of the Elkins Police Department said that Cpl. C.D. Cross and the K-9 officer Macy went to TVHS Wednesday. White said Cross and Macy will now perform a drug sweep twice per year at each school in Randolph County, thanks to an agreement between the department and the county school system.
