The Tygart Valley Chapter of National Wild Turkey Federation will host its annual JAKES Day June 22 at the Izaak Walton Clubhouse, located approximately six miles straight up Files Creek Road in Beverly.
The event will start with registration at 8 a.m. and the opening at 9 a.m. No pre-registration is required, and this free event is open to children ages 17 and younger.
The NWTF started the JAKES program as a way to give kids the chance to explore their outdoor world. If you like fishing, skeet shooting, snakes and learning more cool skills that you can take to the field to stay safe and have fun, then make plans to attend JAKES Day. JAKES stands for Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship.
Once again, members from the Mountaineer Chapter of Izaak Walton League of America, will serve lunch for all that attend the event and many of their members also volunteer their time to spend the entire day with the children during the event.
All children must be present and have registered before 9 a.m. to be eligible for door prize drawings at the end of the event. Hope to see you there and bring a friend.
