Scott Goddard, second from right, Davis & Elkins College vice president for student affairs, plays ‘Dole soccer’ with a group of Midland Elementary School students. The arcade game was just one of many created by Midland’s two fifth-grade classes as a result of Goddard’s presentation to the school’s PTA. Goddard learned of the project, ‘Caines Arcade,’ at the National Association of Campus Activities Convention, and said he was moved to bring the idea to his daughter’s school. The project allows students to use their creative and team-building skills to make arcade games out of cardboard and other small, ordinary items.
