People driving between Buckhannon and Elkins along Route 33 on Corridor H recently have surely noticed the on-going road construction in the area.

The road work is part of a pavement preservation and concrete restoration project on a 4.2-mile stretch of the highway that is scheduled to be completed by mid-to-late August or earlier if weather permits, officials said.

"We want to let everyone one know that their cooperation is appreciated," said Travis Ray of the state Division of Highways office in Elkins. "We ask that people slow down and be patient for their own safety and the safety of the workers involved."

The work also includes joint repair and a final diamond-grinding process that is used to make a smoother driving surface. The project has been contracted to Chester Bross Construction Company, based in Missouri.

According to Charles Riling, a representative from the DOH, there are other construction projects in process throughout the area, including an extension to Corridor H from Davis to Bismar,k which is projected to be wrapping up in late 2014.

Other projects include a paving contract from Davis to the Grant-Tucker County line that will finish next month, as well as a concrete restoration project in Upshur County on Route 33 that is similar to the current one on Corridor H, officials said.
