Odie Monroe McGee, 70, a resident of Chestnut Street in Philippi, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013, in Broaddus Hospital.
He was born June 1, 1943, in Berryburg, a son of the late Gordon Dayton and Theressa Jane Bartlett McGee.
Surviving are his former wife, Annetta Marie (Mayle) McGee of Philippi; seven sons, Kevin Monroe McGee and companion, Sandra Alexander, of Buckhannon, Gregory Martin McGee and wife, Cheryl, of Mooringsport, La., Jeffrey Mark McGee and wife, Angela, of Points, Anthony Matthew McGee and fiancee, Dana Slaubaugh, of Oakland, Md., Walter Myron McGee of Belington; Joshua Darnell McGee and wife, Danelle, of Fairmont and Jared Ashley McGee of Philippi; six brothers and sisters, Winfield McGee of Philippi, Margaret McGee of Fairmont, Rita Foster and husband, Luke, of Nestorville, Frona Bennett and husband, Tom, of Buckhannon, Ann Collins of Philippi and Carl McGee and wife, Carolyn Sue, of Flemington; amd 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. McGee was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Charles Wesley McGee, Mary Edith Brewer, Gordon Dayton McGee, Shirley May Simmons, and an infant brother.
Mr. McGee retired as a carpenter from William H. Hazel Construction. He was an Apostolic by faith.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, June 26, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the service hour with Pastor J.R. Mayle officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
