Instructors for Augusta Heritage Center Cajun Week, from left, David Greely, Tracy Schwarz, Courtney Granger, Gina Forsyth and Joel Savoy, perform a culture session for fiddle style in the Madden Center. Approximately 150 people arrived on the Davis & Elkins College campus Sunday to participate in the first week of Augusta’s Summer Session with the theme Cajun/Creole and Early Country Music. Augusta’s five-week Summer Session includes classes in music, dance, craft and folklore, and features evening concerts every Tuesday and Thursday. The session wraps up the weekend of Aug. 9-11 with the Augusta Festival in Elkins City Park, a dance in the open-air pavilion, a concert at the D&E Outdoor Amphitheater and a gospel sing in Robbins Chapel on the D&E campus.
