A 74-year-old Harman man was killed Thursday in a single-vehicle car accident near Bowden.

According to Randolph County Sheriff Mark Brady, Jearl Mallow was traveling east on U.S. Route 33 near the Lambert Road intersection when he lost control of his 2002 Chevy Trailblazer and left the roadway. Brady said the vehicle went into the right-hand ditch, and hit a fence, a rock pile and trees.

Brady said Mallow was pronounced dead on the scene.

The accident occurred at about 4:17 p.m. Emergency crews from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, Randolph County EMS and local firefighters assisted at the scene.
