The Barbour County Emergency Squad was dispatched to the Philippi City Pool to respond to a potential drowning call around 2 p.m. Wednesday, officials said.

The victim was a juvenile who was sent to Broaddus Hospital's heli-pad and was flown by HealthNet to Ruby Memorial Hospital as a precaution, according to a representative of the Barbour County Emergency Squad.

The Philippi City Police were dispatched shortly after the incident and were still investigating the matter by late afternoon.

No information on the status of the victim or how the incident occurred was available as of presstime.
