West Virginia Farm Bureau and the West Virginia State Fair will present the eighth annual Farming Heritage Award to Dr. Joseph Cain. Cain is the fourth generation to operate his 500-plus acre farm, located in Big Bend.

The Farming Heritage Award is sponsored by West Virginia Farm Bureau and the State Fair of West Virginia and is presented to a worthy family who demonstrates a commitment to a rural lifestyle and involvement in their community, and serves as a role model to others in the state of West Virginia.

A ceremony to honor Cain will be Thursday, Aug. 15, during Governor's Day at the 2013 State Fair. Cain will receive a Natural Stone Sign award and will also be treated to a day at the fair, including overnight accommodations, free admission and preferred parking.
