Pocahontas grand jury indicts 18

A man was indicted in Pocahontas County this week for allegedly breaking into a local fire department and stealing bank deposit bags, among a slew of other items.

Charles E. McCoy was indicted by a Pocahontas County grand jury on one felony count of grand larceny and and two felony counts of entry of a building other than a dwelling.

According to the indictment, McCoy is accused of stealing items worth approximately $1,284.15.

McCoy allegedly broke into the Hillsboro Volunteer Fire department on April 1 and stole numerous items, including pager batteries, bank deposit bags, miscellaneous fire department receipts, fire department spare keys, paint, a 24-inch Sentry safe, fire equipment, first-aid materials, 130 batteries and other property.

The grand jury also indicted Drake A. Andrews on two felony counts of third-degree sexual assault. Andrews, who is age 16 or older, allegedly had sexual intercourse or sexual intrusion in June 2012 and February 2013 with an individual less than 16 years old who was at least four years younger than him.

A total of 18 individuals in 18 separate indictments were handed down this week by the grand jury. Other individuals indicted include:

- Jesse Underwood was indicted on one count of first-degree arson, a felony.

- George Gary Hissom was indicted on one count of conspiracy to deliver controlled substances, a felony.

- Carla Lynn Johnson was indicted on one felony count of conspiracy, a felony.

- Jesse Underwood was indicted on one count of conspiracy, a felony.

- Clellene Banks was indicted on one count of attempt to commit a felony, a felony.

- Gerald Bennett was indicted on one count of grand larceny, a felony.

- Steven K. Bennett was indicted on one count of person prohibited from possessing firearms, a felony.

- Jerry Wayne Curry was indicted on one count of DUI third offense, a felony.

- Nathan G. Martin was indicted on one count of driving under the influence of alcohol, third offense, a felony.

- Marie E. Melling was indicted on one count of possession of a Schedule I, non-narcotic substance, marijuana, with intent to deliver, a felony, and one count of possession with intent to deliver oxycodone, a felony.

- Travis Shane Dean was indicted on one count of entry of building other than a dwelling, a felony.

- Matthew Allen Kerlin was indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit a felony, a felony.

- Randall Thompson was indicted on one count of conspiracy, a felony.

- Randy D. Bennett Jr. was indicted on one count of conspiracy, a felony.

- Austin Drayden Shaffer was indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit a felony, a felony.

- Jarel William Hurley was indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit a felony, a felony.
