Thomas A. Mick

Thomas Allen Mick, 78, a resident of Route 4, Philippi, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at his home after an extended illness. He was born Feb. 16, 1935, in Fairmont, a son of the late Bryl Mick and Virginia (Glen) Mick Dodson.

On Sept. 2, 1962, he was united in marriage to the former Lillian May Simmons, who survives. Also surviving is one son; J Adams Mick and wife, Diane, of Moatsville; one daughter, Julia Serback and husband, Joe, of Elkins; six grandchildren, Bryan Mick, Andrew and Christopher Tuner, and Ethan, Shaun and Emily Mick; one brother, James Mick and wife, Anna, of Rock Hill, S.C.

Mr. Mick was preceded in death by four sisters, Jean Maruka, Edna White, Sue Parlett and infant Eileen Mick.

Mr. Mick served in the U.S. Air Force. He was in the banking business for 37 years and retired in 1997 from the BC Bank in Philippi. He enjoyed camping, gardening and spending time with friends and family.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday Aug. 17, from 5-8 p.m. and on Sunday Aug. 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the service hour, with Pastor Bryan Headley and Speaker Jessie Shaw officiating. Military honors will be accorded following the funeral service. Interment will be on Monday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. at the family cemetery in Madison, W.Va.
