Two Upshur County men are behind bars after being arrested Sunday night for allegedly operating a methamphetamine lab.
Travis Frame, 42, of Rock Cave, and Stewart Mullens, 35, of Buckhannon, are being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail, charged with operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab. Bond for each man was set at $85,000.
Upshur County Sheriff Dave Coffman said Cpl. Theron Caynor and Deputy Mitch Kennedy responded to the Rock Cave area around 9 p.m. Sunday after receiving a call regarding a suspicious car in the area. Coffman said the deputies discovered an active lab upon their arrival to the scene.
Lab technicians from the West Virginia State Police were called to take control of the scene, Coffman said. The vehicle which prompted the original call to the sheriff's department has been impounded as evidence, Coffman said.
The sheriff said the deputies seized an assault rifle that the men had with them, and the deputies also seized items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.
The investigation is ongoing, Coffman said.
