State Senator Clark Barnes is proud to appoint April Lynn Kesling to the Royal Court of the Mountain State Forest Festival. Princess April is the daughter of Robert and Alesia Kesling of Beverly. She is the granddaughter of Barbara Kesling of Elkins and James and Barbara Lawrence of Dryfork.

April graduated in the top 10 percent of her class from Elkins High School and is planning to attend WVU in the fall of 2013, where she has been selected to the WVU cheerleader squad and will be majoring in pre-pharmacy. She has volunteered two summers at Davis Memorial Hospital, which helped her interest in the medical field. While in high school, she was Class Council Secretary, Student Council member and National Honor Society member. Her hobbies include cheerleading and dance, volunteering for United Way, AXIS Training Center, Relay For Life, Coalton Days and other fundraisers. She was a four-year varsity cheerleader and was named to the first team All-Conference Team Cheerleading in the NCAC as well as the AXIS All Star Cheerleading team. She has been a member of Center State Studio of Dance for 11 years. She is a waitress at Applebees and a member of the Gandy Dancer Theatre and Conference Center.

In 2012, she was the Beverly Fireman's Queen, where she won awards for best interview, the KJC award and the Soldier's Choice Award. April, once before, was a member of the Royal Court, as she was a court jester in 2007, and this year as princess, she will join the remainder of the Royal Court in October as they descend the beautiful hillside on the campus of Davis & Elkins College.
