Local chef, caterer and business owner Susan Gouer Ball will be the guest chef for Adaland Mansion's fourth dinner in its Celebrate Local! dinner series. Ball's training in classical French cooking, her discovery of "French peasant food" and her love and appreciation for the food of her childhood have blended into what she calls "Appalachian Peasant."
Ball promises to capture the simple style of her childhood food and the panache of French cooking in her menu created especially for the Sunday, Sept. 15 dinner at Adaland Mansion.
From heirloom tomato chowder with kale to composed greens lightly dressed with warm bacon and sage vinaigrette to Appalachian pork loin accompanied by Appalachian sweet rice to a finale of warm squash wedges filled with the tastes of autumn, diners will delight in yet another outstanding menu in this dinner series.
Reservations for the 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. seatings may be made by calling 304-457-2415.
