Pendleton man killed in car crash

A 25-year-old Upper Tract man was killed in a one-vehicle accident Saturday, police said.

Julian A. Basagic was travelling southbound on U.S. 220 in Pendleton County in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, according to a release from the West Virginia State Police.

The accident occurred approximately less than half a mile south of the intersection of Route 220 and 3 Ridge Road at approximately 4:30 a.m., police said.

Basagic's vehicle reportedly crossed the center line, traveled off the eastern roadway edge and struck two trees before his vehicle stopped, according to the release.

Basagic succumbed to injuries on the scene, police said.

Trooper J.J. Varner II, Cpl. J.M. Ware and Sgt. A.D. Teter investigated the fatal accident.
