Bomb threats were reported at Petersburg High School on two consecutive days this week, school officials said.
Superintendent of Grant County Schools Dr. DeEdra Bolton said students were evacuated from the school on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
The first bomb threat was reported Tuesday at around 1:55 p.m. The second was reported Wednesday around lunchtime, she said.
"We do not condone this type of behavior and we do not take it lightly," Bolton said in a phone interview. "If we are talking about a substantial, bona fide bomb threat where up to 700 lives are at risk, we take all possible precautions. We treat them all very seriously."
The West Virginia State Police, Petersburg City Police and the Grant County's Sheriff's Office responded to the threats. The incidents are still under investigation. No further information was available at presstime.
