Colts to visit Braxton; TV travels to SH

n Philip Barbour (1-1) at Braxton County (0-2)

Philip Barbour will look to bounce back from last week's narrow loss to Lincoln when it travels to Braxton County.

The Colts hope to get quarterback Dillon Newman and running back Dylan Johnson healthy. Both are still battling injuries suffered in week one. Last week, Newman was 23 of 35 passing for 263 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson led the Colts in rushing with 39 yards, while receiver Al Johnson contributed 12 catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns.

The Eagles have lost to Lincoln (24-6) and Clay County (37-20).

n Tygarts Valley (0-2) at South Harrison (0-2)

Tygarts Valley will travel to Lost Creek in search of its first win of the season. The Bulldogs were blanked last week by Tucker County, 49-0, and lost to Pendleton County (34-6) in week one.

South Harrison (0-2) also has opened the season winless, falling to Doddridge County (20-6) and Gilmer County (18-0).

n Herbert Hoover (1-1) at Lewis County (1-1)

Lewis County will hope to continue its winning ways this evening at home against Herbert Hoover. The Minutemen defeated Preston last week, 48-24.

Senior running back Mark Metzgar had 163 yards on 21 carries and Dustin Martin added 94 yards on 14 carries in the win. Quarterback Skylar Carlton finished the night with 132 yards passing and the Minutemen had 494 yards of total offense.

In its last game, Herbert Hoover was beaten by Chapmanville Regional, 24-18. The Huskies defeated Scott, 40-35, on opening night.

n Pendleton (2-0) at Pocahontas County (0-2)

Pendleton County has opened the season with two wins and will look to keep the winning streak alive against PVC rival Pocahontas County in Dunmore.

Last week, the Wildcats trailed 13-0 after the first quarter before scoring 22 unanswered points in the second quarter to defeat Petersburg, 22-13. Quarterback Luke Yokum had scoring strikes of 25 yards to Dyllan Wimer and 37 yards to Matthew Dove. Yokum also scored on a 12-yard touchdown run.

Yokum was 10 of 18 passing for 117 yards on the night, while rushing for an additional 191 yards on 23 totes. Wimer had four receptions for 41 yards.

Defensively, Travis Alt registered 14 tackles, Dylan Dunkle added 12 tackles and an interception, Timothy Hevener had eight tackles and a fumble recovery, and Lane Fleisher recorded two sacks.

Pocahontas lost to Parkersburg Catholic last week, 28-0, and Tucker County, 21-7, in week one.

n Moorefield (1-1) at

Southern (Md.) (0-1)

Moorefield will travel to Maryland today in hopes of picking up a win against Southern Garrett. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 37-34 loss to Frankfort.

Moorefield will look for senior running back Tyhiem Franklin to lead the offense. The Rams lost to Allegany (Md.), 34-8, last week.

n Berkley Springs (0-2)

at Petersburg (0-2)

Petersburg and Berkeley Springs are both looking for their first win of the season.

Last week, Trevor Harman and Alex See had rushing touchdowns for the Vikings in the 22-13 loss to Pendleton County. The Indians, meanwhile, are still looking to score their first points of the season after being blanked by Clarke County, Va. (34-0) and Keyser (59-0).
