Buckhannon-Upshur’s Seth Cutright breaks free for a 57-yard touchdown run during the second quarter against Elkins Friday night at Wimer Field. Cutright finished with four scores on the evening as the Bucs claimed a 42-20 victory.

The Bucs jumped out to a 7-0 lead on their first possession of the night, driving 79 yards on 15 plays.

Senior fullback Philip Petrulak capped the march with a 3-yard run.

After a Tiger punt, Cutright scored his first touchdown of the night, taking a pass from Dillion Gaudet and scampering 70 yards to make it 14-0 after Trey Short's second conversion kick of the night.

Short converted on all six of his attempts on the night.

Elkins answered with 8;54 left in the first half when Dylan Lucas broke free from eight yards out to cut the deficit to 14-6 after the missed conversion.

Cutright then gave B-U control of the game, scoring on two more plays of 50-plus yards before halftime.

The first was a 57-yard run on a sweep play that made it 21-6. He later fielded a punt near his own 40-yard line, broke free and outraced the Tiger coverage, stretching the lead to 28-6 with 5:43 left in the half.

A 44-yard run by Lucas helped Elkins get back on the board before halftime with Ben Lonergan capping the drive with a 4-yard run.

After the Tigers fumbled on their first play from scrimmage to start the second half, the Bucs used a short scoring drive with Petrulak reaching paydirt to make it 35-12.

Cutright's big night continued in the fourth quarter.

After a 20-play drive by the Tigers ended on downs inside the B-U 5-yard line, Cutright broke free and raced 96 yards for the score.

Elkins tacked on a 2-yard run by Lucas with 5:14 left to finish the scoring.

Cutright finished the night with 155 yards rushing on just three attempts. Petrulak added 65 on nine carries.

Lucas led the Tigers (0-3, 0-1 Big 10) with 167 yards rushing on 22 carries. Lonergan added 64 on 22 tries.

John Huffman, who also had an interception on defense for the hosts, chipped in 40 yards rushing.

B-U (1-2, 1-1) will return to action Friday at North Marion, while Elkins will visit Preston on the same evening.
