BUCKHANNON - West Virginia Wesleyan opened its home season with a 2-0 win over West Liberty Wednesday night in Mountain East Conference action.
The Bobcats scored their first goal in the 9th minute when Kristi Dalton and Colette Biondi combined to find Hannah Gurtis, who found the bottom left corner of the goal.
The score remained 1-0 until the 70th minute when Rachel Ritchie, who earlier in the half misfired on a penalty kick, received a throw-in from Heather Sanders and converted from 25 yards out.

Wesleyan held a commanding 19-0 edge on shots on goal and 5-1 advantage on corner kicks.
The Bobcats (2-2-1) will travel to Notre Dame (Ohio) at noon on Saturday.
The Hilltoppers dropped to 1-4-0.
Pitt-Johnstown 3, Alderson Broaddus 1
JOHNSTOWN, Pa.- The University of Pitt-Johnstown defeated the Alderson Broaddus men's soccer team 3-1 on Wednesday.
The Mountain Cats (1-3) tallied a pair of goals in the first half and another in the second half to put the Battlers (1-4) away.
Freshman Peter McMenemy scored AB's only goal with 22:23 left in the non-conference match. The goal was McMenemy's second of the season.
Steve Marsh, Steve Taslov and Colin Michalski notched goals for UPJ.
AB outshot the Mountain Cats 19-15 in the contest. Senior Jose Noriega led the Battlers with eight shots.
AB will travel to Gannon at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
