KERENS - Elkins Raceway will host the 49th annual Festival 40 on Saturday.
The Jenkins Ford Super Late Models will battle for $3,000. The Budweiser FASTRAK Late Models, Fast 'N Friendly Pharmacy Modifieds, Miller's Used Cars Street Stocks and the Good Samaritan of Barbour County Mod Lites will each race for $1,000 to win based on 15 cars signing in per class. The Darren's Pizza Shack Mini Wedges also will be on the card.
Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 7 p.m. There also will be a fireworks display. The Festival race dates back to the opening of the track in 1952.
The first few years were ran with a four-day, four-race format. Then a two-day format was used. In many of the two-day shows, the first day was a regular show with the Festival race the second day.
In recent years the Festival race has been a one-day format.
