Robert Phares

Robert Henry Phares, age 81, of Circleville, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, in Pendleton Manor in Franklin.

He was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Upper Tract, the son of the late Roy and Bessie (Heavner) Phares.

Robert married Lorraine Thompson Phares, who preceded him in death Jan. 8, 2004.

Mr. Phares was a 1950 graduate of Circleville High School. He was a member of Circleville United Methodist Church and attended Christ Central Church in Upper Tract. He was a longtime member and past treasurer of the Circleville Volunteer Fire Department, and he was a farmer. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Phares is survived by a daughter, Lorna Judy and husband, Michael, of Riverton; a granddaughter, Olivia Judy of Morgantown; a sister, Ruth Knicely of Harrisonburg, Va.; and a brother, George Phares and wife, Sharon, of Circleville.

Robert's family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Pastor Sam Harper will officiate funeral services Thursday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, with military graveside services conducted by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.
