Pennsylvania state troopers began pursuing a pickup truck with a West Virginia license plate shortly after noon Friday in the Ohiopyle area. The Associated Press reported that during the pursuit, the occupants of the truck allegedly opened a back window and began firing at the police car that was chasing them. The reason for the attempted traffic stop has not been released. The Pennsylvania State Police is continuing to investigate the incident.
The driver of the truck later reportedly lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a residence in Uniontown. The owner of the house was not home at the time of the crash, according to police reports.
Police entered the house after about 10 hours, finding Brown dead.
