With the construction of the new National Guard Armory and convention center under way on Brushy Fork Road in Buckhannon, local officials are wondering how to best utilize the old facility.

Buckhannon City Administrator Michael Doss told Buckhannon City Council members Thursday that an upcoming meeting has been scheduled to discuss the possibilities for the old facility.

He said that a meeting will take place today, Monday, Oct. 7, between himself, Stockert Youth Center's Debora Brockelman and representatives from the Upshur County Development Authority.

"That meeting will be designed to discuss moving forward with one of the options of possibly converting that existing armory grounds into some type of a recreational facility, utilizing that existing facility," Doss said.
