One person is dead and another behind bars following a single-vehicle wreck in Upshur County Saturday night in which police allege alcohol was a contributing factor.
Ronnie Junior Landis, 33, of HC 73, Box 183, Ellamore, is being held on a $175,000 bond after being charged with a misdemeanor offense of driving under the influence with death (and) without recklessness.
According to the complaint filed by the West Virginia State Police in Upshur County Magistrate Court, Landis was driving a Dodge truck shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday along CR 151 when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
A passenger in the vehicle, 27-year-old Nicole Rogozinski Currence, died from injuries suffered in the accident, according to the complaint.
The complaint stated that Landis failed a preliminary breath test and was taken to the hospital for a blood test. His blood-alcohol content was allegedly over the legal limit, according to the complaint.
