MILTON - Easing the burden of extra costs associated with the holiday season, and for the first time ever, Foodland shoppers can earn a free frozen turkey when they use their Rewards Card and spend at least $350 at participating Foodland locations through Nov.16.

"It's important for us to be a part of our loyal customers' holiday season," said Bill Lipsky Director of Merchandising at SUPERVALU which supplies Foodland locations. "By rewarding shoppers for their existing purchasing habits at Foodland, we believe that through the turkey promotion, we'll bring even more savings to their upcoming holiday meals."

During the five-week earning period, shoppers who use their Foodland Rewards card and spend at least $350 will be eligible to earn up to a 14-pound Grade A frozen turkey courtesy of Foodland. When customers spend $499, they're eligible to take home up to a 22-pound Grade A Tom turkey (with the exception of Butterball and limited to one per family.)

"Our Foodland shoppers are residents in our local neighborhoods and folks we've built relationships with over the years," said Jim Oppe, Foodland owner. "We've all felt the impact of the economy in recent months, so it's important for us to give back during the holidays to help lessen the extra financial stress this time of year."

Customers will be able to redeem their Foodland rewards, after receiving an email notifying them of their qualification, towards a free turkey beginning Nov. 17 and continuing through Thanksgiving.

In addition to earning a free turkey, Foodland Rewards members are also able to double fuel rewards, at participating Foodland locations, to help ease pain at the pump during holiday travels.

The Foodland Rewards program, introduced in June 2013, provides shoppers with valued bonus services including eCoupons, weekly emails and access to recipe and meal suggestions.
