Elkins High spikers best Liberty

ELKINS - The Elkins High School volleyball team cruised past Liberty Wednesday night in Big 10 Conference action at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

The Tigers downed the Mountaineers 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-17).

"The girls played well and it was great to get a victory," Elkins coach Penny Crawford said.

The Tigers, who will host Lewis County at 7 p.m. today, also took the junior varsity game, 25-14, 22-25, 25-10.

College volleyball

D&E downs Tech

ELKINS -Davis &?Elkins defeated West Virginia Tech 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-) Wednesday night at the McDonnell Center.

Natalie Mathieu paced the Senators with 12 kills on the night, while Alexis Mourier posted 10 kills and Michaela Touchet chipped in with 12 digs. Haylee Murray notched 16 assists and Alicia Stokes added 13.

D&E will travel to Kentucky Wesleyan at 5 p.m. Friday.

Men's college soccer

Wesleyan 3, Shepherd 0

SHEPHERDSTOWN - Wesleyan claimed a 3-0 win over Shepherd Wednesday in Mountain East Conference play.

Joe Ferraracci and Kuda Chijeche each tallied scores for the Bobcats, while another goal scored on a Rams' error that led to an own goal.

Wesleyan (6-5-4, 4-3-3 MEC) will host Charleston at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Women's college soccer

Wesleyan 2, Shepherd 0

SHEPHERDSTOWN - Rachel Ransom and Jade Smith had first-half goals to help Wesleyan to a 2-0 win over MEC foe Shepherd on Wednesday.

The Bobcats improved to 10-4-1 overall and 9-2-1 in league games and will host Charleston at 7 p.m. Saturday.
