Victoria Kyle's Elkins High School senior project is to raise money that she can then donate to the Life Skills classroom at Third Ward Elementary School.
The donation will be made in honor of Kyle's cousin, Lynlee Price, who has a disability and is in the class.
"I decided to do this because I want to go into pediatric nursing," Kyle said.
The project also goes hand in hand with her junior year paper which discussed children with terminal illnesses. She added the class "hopes to use the money towards an iPad or something else that they can use to benefit development in the classroom."
To raise money, Kyle has organized a silent auction, raffle, hot dog sale and cake walk. Activities will take place starting at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Beverly Fire Hall.
Some of the items that will be auctioned off include, but are not limited to, food and certificates to various restaurants and establishments, show tickets to the American Mountain Theater and Gandy Dancer, fishing tackle and other hobby items.
In addition to these activities, Bob Evans is holding a community night on Nov. 14. Any customer who comes into the restaurant with a flier from Kyle, will have 15 percent of their bill donated to her for her cause.
Kyle said all local businesses have been very nice, which has helped with acquiring items for the auction. Baked goods can be donated for the cake walk by contacting Stephanie White at 304-704-9066.
