PARSONS - Last year's Class A semifinal contest between Madonna an Tucker County was a classic.

In a battle between the top-ranked Mountain Lions and the fourth-seed Blue Dons, the game was played in snow flurries and went to double overtime. The Blue Dons escaped that day with a hard-fought 20-14 victory.

Fast forward to Friday night, when the teams meet again, it will be Madonna holding the stature of being undefeated and ranked as the team to beat in Class A.

Tucker County’s Austin Zirk picks up yards during last season’s Class A semifinal contest against Madonna. Zirk and the Mountain Lions will face the Blue Dons Friday night in Weirton in playoff action.

"The difference this year will be that (Madonna) didn't lose too much and we have two players back on offense and two players on defense that played in that game," Tucker County coach A.J.?Rapp said. "But we're going there to battle.

"We're glad to be in the playoffs and have that chance to keep playing."

The Mountain Lions enter the game with a 6-4 record, a mark Rapp said could have been different - one way or the other.

"We could have easily finished the season anywhere from (9-1 to 1-9)," he said. "We could have won every game we lost if one play here or there goes our way, and the same with the games we won.

"We had a lot of growing pains this year, and the mistakes we made we're not the type we made last year because we had a more experienced team."

Quarterback Ross Comis is back to lead Madonna.

He had 102 yards rushing and scored the game-winning touchdown in last year's matchup.
