PHILIPPI - The Alderson Broaddus football team will host Cumberland University at noon today in the season finale.
The contest will be the first meeting between two Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) football programs in conference history.
The G-MAC was approved by the NCAA Division II Membership Committee in February of 2012 as a member conference and earned active status in July of 2013. Cumberland, an NAIA athletic program, will apply for DII status before the February 2014 deadline and is a provisional member of the conference along with Georgetown College.
This has been a year of firsts for the ABU football program as it hosted its first varsity home game in over 80 years Sept. 7, against Pace University.
