BUCKHANNON - A second arrest has been made in connection to a burglary that allegedly took place last month in the Vegan area of Upshur County.

Cameron P. Loudin, 20, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one felony count of burglary after he and another individual allegedly removed items from a residence on the Lassiter Road on Oct. 29.

According to the criminal complaint in the Upshur County Magistrate Clerk's office, officers discovered that the back door to a residence located at 806 Lassiter Road had been "kicked in" and observed several items were missing from the house and garage.

Later that evening, investigating officer Cpl. Theron Caynor of the Upshur County Sheriff's Office made contact with Loudin via a traffic stop. Several items that had allegedly been taken from the house were reportedly discovered in Loudin's vehicle, the complaint states.

Loudin subsequently gave a statement to police in which he accused Jonathan Cochran of breaking into the residence; however, Loudin later gave a second statement in which he allegedly admitted that he accompanied Cochran into the house and the two removed a camera, a safe, a laptop computer, an iPad and other miscellaneous items.

Cochran, 19, also of Buckhannon, was arrested Nov. 5 and charged with one count of daytime burglary, a felony. He is facing additional unrelated charges in Upshur County, including fleeing in a vehicle and fleeing no vehicle and is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $75,000 bond.

Loudin is free on a $25,000 bond, $1,000 of which was set at cash only by Magistrate Mike Coffman.

The penalty for a conviction of burglary is imprisonment in a state penitentiary for one to 15 years.
