James D. Porterfield of Elkins, an author and contributing editor for Railfan & Railroad magazine, will sign copies of his "Dining by Rail" from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Mainline Books in Elkins.
Samples of a dessert item once found on one of America's premier passenger trains will be available.
Porterfield was an adjunct professor in marketing at Penn State University for 22 years and has written the monthly "On the Menu" column about dinner trains and more for the past 21 years.
