ELKINS - A wintry mix could put a crimp in the Thanksgiving travel plans of local residents.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch from tonight through late Wednesday night for Randolph, Webster and Nicholas counties.
The watch calls for rain changing to snow late tonight and continuing through Wednesday night, with 4 to 8 inches of snow possible.
The NWS urges travelers to be cautious and careful of icy spots on roads and sidewalks which may become snow-covered.
A winter storm warning from this morning through Wednesday afternoon has been issued for Brooke and Hancock counties in the Northern Panhandle. The weather service says up to 9 inches of snow is possible there.
A large section of the state including Charleston, Clarksburg and Huntington was expected to see rain mixed with some snow today.
