Health care reform has become one of the most misunderstood, polarizing and confusing issues of our time.
Each state's health insurance marketplace, or exchange, started its open enrollment period Oct. 1, allowing individuals and small businesses to shop for and purchase health insurance.
The National Healthy Start Association was awarded a federal navigator grant to help reach uninsured individuals and families, and has contracted to provide navigator services through the West Virginia Healthy Start Project at West Virginia University.
The navigators' services are available to Barbour, Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston, Randolph, Taylor and Upshur counties.
Persons interested in assistance with health insurance coverage and the marketplace may contact Donna Smith at Barbour County Health Department at 304-457-1670, for Barbour, Taylor, Randolph and Upshur counties; Rebecca Hagedorn, for Monongahela, Marion, Harrison, and Preston counties at 304-598-5150; or Penny Womeldorff at 1-866-738-HAPI.
