ELKINS - The Randolph County Community Arts Center is busy decking the halls and preparing to showcase its members with the 2013 Holiday Arts Market on Friday and Saturday.
"The Holiday Arts Market will coincide with the downtown Christmas Celebration and Parade," RCCAC Executive Director Kurt Barkley said. "This is a favorite annual event and provides shoppers an opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts and more. It is also a great way for us to support the local independent artists, designers and crafters."
RCCAC Development Director Amy Beth Smith said ornaments for the 2013 Christmas Tree Fundraiser will be available for purchase during the event.
"About eight artists donate ornaments for sale," Smith said. "There will be ornaments that are watercolor, small quilts and baskets, and are a great fundraiser for the Arts Center."
The event will offer many unique one-of-a-kind gifts. In the past, works for the sale have included hand-turned wooden bowls, pottery, paintings, baskets, jewelry, fiber arts, hand-crafted decoration, wood carvings and recordings by local musicians.
On Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m., children age pre-k to 5 are invited to the RCCAC for the Holiday Open House. The event is free and will offer instruction for kids to create a holiday ornament.
The Holiday Arts Market is open Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
