OVERFIELD - Two people remain in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a two-vehicle collision shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday on Route 57 near Overfield in Barbour County.

According to lead investigator Cpl. C.B. Shrader of the Philippi detachment of the West Virginia State Police, Eric Wolford, 30, of Salem drove his 1993 Ford Ranger pickup truck across the center line and collided head-on with Ashley Craig, 26, of Philippi. Craig was operating a 1990 Dodge Daytona.

"It was a substantial wreck," said Shrader. "Both people were flown by helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital."

Shrader said Wolford is in fair condition, and both he and Craig are expected to survive.

Citations are pending investigation as neither of the involved have been available for questioning. In addition to troopers, the Barbour County EMS, Philippi Fire Department and Nutter Fort Fire Department responded at the scene.
