VALLEY HEAD - One person was killed in a three-vehicle accident today in the Elkwater area of Valley Head, Randolph County Sheriff Mark Brady said.

The accident involved a car travelling northbound on Route 219, which drove left of center and struck a Coca-Cola truck head-on, Brady said. A third vehicle then slid into the truck.

The driver of the first car was pronounced dead on the scene, while a 5-year-old youth who was riding in the same car was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown to be treated for injuries, Brady said. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries, while the third driver was not injured, he said.
